Brewster Hjorth Pty Limited, the corporate trustee behind sydney architectural practice Brewster Hjorth Architects, has entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation.

The company resolved to wind up on 1st September 2026 –  25 days after the North Sydney Olympic Pool reopened – with Anthony Elkerton and Jessica Perri of Salea Advisory appointed as liquidators. The appointment was published by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission the following day.

Brewster Hjorth Pty Limited is trustee of the Brewster Hjorth Unit Trust, through which the Brewster Hjorth Architects business name is held. The insolvency notice applies to the trustee company and does not explain whether the architectural practice will continue operating.

The firm’s website remained online following the appointment. The notice also provides no reason for the liquidation and does not connect it with the practice’s involvement in the North Sydney Olympic Pool redevelopment.

Brewster Hjorth entered a design services agreement with North Sydney Council for the redevelopment in 2018.

The Council subsequently commenced NSW Supreme Court proceedings against the company, alleging breach of contract in relation to the provision of design services.
