sydney cab operator Apex Cabs has entered liquidation in the wake of a tumultuous few months for the company.
The company entered into voluntary liquidation on Tuesday just weeks after it was banned from NSW roads.
Andrew John Spring of insolvency solutions company Jirsch Sutherland appointed as liquidator.
The taxi service provider was slapped with a two-year ban from picking up passengers at Sydney Airport from September 26, 2025.
Apex’s website currently remains active, including its booking form.
NSW Taxi Council CEO Nick Abrahim said the ban had been issued to Apex for not complying with safety requirements at the airport.
“The Taxi Industry is the livelihood for the majority of our wonderful Cabbies, who are working very hard to provide good service and look after passengers, I am not going to allow a cohort of individuals to come in and destroy it for those doing the right thing. We will go as far as we need to, in order to stamp this out,” Mr Abrahim told 2GB at the time.
The company tried to evade the ban by changing its name Elite Zoom Cabs on all of its 250 vehicles, but the airport said any brand associated with its ABN would still be subject to the ban.
